Performances by Il Furioso, Victor Coelho, director, from the recording Giovanni Girolamo Kapsberger: Libro secondo d'arie, Songs of Human and Divine Love (Rome, 1623), Toccata Classics (TOCC 0027).
About the members of Il Furioso: Janet Youngdahl (soprano) is Professor of Voice at the University of Lethbridge. Gian Paolo Fagotto (tenor) has appeared in major theaters and concert halls throughout Europe, North America, Africa, and Asia, and was pronounced "one of the glories of Italian baroque singing" by Repertoire in Paris. Neil Cockburn (harpsichord) is Professor of Organ at Mount Royal College and the University of Calgary. Victor Coelho (archlute) is Professor of Musicology at Boston University. David Dolata (theorbo) is Professor of Musicology at Florida International University.
With kind permission of Toccata Classics.
Note by David Dolata on the basso continuo performance in the recording: Il Furioso had the luxury of assigning various sections of each song to solo harpsichord, theorbo, archlute, or any combination of instruments. The edition, on the other hand, assumes the more likely circumstance of the availability of only one continuo instrument, theorbo in particular.
